CONSTITUTION  BY-LAWS

1.         Dues 

Dues for Member Societies shall be recommended by the Executive Committee and approved by the Council of National Delegates. They shall consist of a fixed sum for each Member-Society and affiliate society.                                  

    

Dues shall be payable in advance, at the latest on the 1st of January of each year. Non-payment of dues for two years will automatically suspend membership until a final decision is made by the next Council Meeting. If a Member-Society under  exceptional circumstances has difficulties with the transfer of the dues to the APPA, these may be paid to a bank in the respective country in the local currency and be placed at the disposal of the Secretary-General.   

                                                                                                                           

2.        Finance

The Executive Committee shall control the monetary funds of the Association determined for its needs and for its program of activities.

 

These funds will consist of annual dues of its members, subsidies, gifts, legacies, and any support given to the Association, whether by its own members or by persons or institutions outside of the Association; the acceptance of such support shall be approved by the Executive Board.                                   

                                                   

3.         Termination of Membership

Non-payment of dues by a Member-Society or affiliate society for two years shall automatically suspend membership until a final decision of the Council of National Delegates is taken at its next meeting.  Membership may also be terminated by decision of the Council.                                             

                                                                                 

 4.         Congress Attendance

Attendance at the Congress shall be open to any interested individual on payment of registration fee.                                                           

 

5.         Meetings

 5.1 – The Executive Committee shall meet at least once between each Council Meeting, and at other times if considered necessary by the President. The presence of three members shall comprise a quorum.                                                                                                        

 

5.2 – The Advisory Committee shall meet with the Executive Board and the Council of National Delegates one day before the opening of the APPA Congress. The APPA President shall preside at the meeting. A report will be presented by the President and by the Secretary-General, and a financial statement by the Treasurer.   

 

 After these reports and financial statement have been approved, the new President shall take office.

 

5.3 – The Council of the National Delegates shall have its business meetings at the time of each Congress. The new President of APPA shall preside at the meeting.                    

 

5.4 – Asian Pacific Congress of Pediatrics: Invitations for the next congress from the President of the National Society, with a governmental endorsement, must be in the hands of the Secretary-General at least three months before the coming Congress These will be considered carefully by the Advisory Board, which will make its recommendation to the Council of National Delegates, which has the final decision as to the location of the next Congress.                                                                              

  

6.         Languages

The official language of the Association shall be English. 

 

Announcement

APSSEAR (Association of Pediatric Societies of Southeast Asian Region) is now known as APPA (Asian Pacific Pediatric Association)!

This move was decided at the meeting of the Council in Bangkok, Thailand in November 2003. The change is to truly reflect the composition of the member societies.
